Henrietta Rose Thuemler was born on December 1, 1918. Her parents were John Hrachovy and Rosalie (Lidiak) Hrachovy. She married George Thuemler on January 8, 1946 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Hostyn, Texas. George and Henrietta made their home in the Swiss Alp/O'Quinn community until January, 1969. Henrietta loved living on the farm and was quite a worker, she could pick cotton and very few individuals could pick more than she could in any given day. Whether it was working in the fields, milking cows, or gardening in her flower and vegetable gardens, she worked non-stop. There was always an abundance of food in the house as she preserved enough food to feed an "army." Baking homemade bread and kolaches were her specialty. She sewed all her clothes, as well as her daughter’s, and later on her granddaughter as well.

In 1969 when they moved to La Grange Henrietta worked at the retail store, Elkins. ιn the early 1970’s she began working at the Care Inn and retired in 1992. She loved working as a care giver and often was called to work additional shifts. In addition she served as an interpreter at the nursing home and hospital when no one was available. She loved her Czech heritage.

Although she worked full time as a care giver she still maintained a huge vegetable garden and continued to preserve vegetables whether it be canning or freezing. She maintained her garden until she was 90 years old. She also picked the pecans in her yard and one year shelled 10 gallons.

She pieced quilt tops and quilted many a guilt with her neighbor Lila Hunger. She made quilt tops until 1997 when she started losing her eye sight.

In the early 2000's she befriended Ms. Leta Burns and they did everything together. They went to church together, they went to Houston shopping, and most all they played dominoes at the Senior Citizens center, the Methodist church, and at home. They even taught one of the priests and nuns from India how to play. Leta and Henrietta were inseparable. (Henrietta grieved her passing in 2015). Henrietta loved playing dominoes and she earned the name of "Deuce" by her extended family in Florida. She played dominoes daily at the nursing facility until her death. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange and Saint Philip the Apostle Catholic Church In Huffmann. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters Of America and the Altar Society.

ιn 2011, Henrietta fell and broke her hip and could no longer live alone. She made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Humble until January 2017 when she became a resident of the Park Manor Nursing Facility in Humble.

Henrietta was predeceased by her parents, husband George, her seven brothers and sisters, Charles, Adolph, John, Jerry, Jerome Hrachovy, Martha Mitchian, and Lille Stos and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughter Valerie Luecke and Husband Milton, granddaughter Connie Bill and husband Todd Bill, step great granddaughter Ashley, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Patsy and Rick Smith and lvy Rosenberg.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Queen Of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, The Catholic Daughters Of America or the charity of one’s choice.
