October 12, 1953 — May 11, 2022

Gregory Lynn Beauford (68) of La Grange, passed away May 11, 2022.  He was born on October 12, 1953 in Del Rio, Texas to Owen and Shirley (Murray) Beauford.  They relocated to Corpus Christi/Calallen where Greg grew up. He played football at Calallen Jr/High Schools. He joined the U.S. Army on January 26, 1973, where he served 6 years. He was stationed at SHAPE in Mons Belgium, and later reassigned to the 101st at Fort Campbell Kentucky. During his enlistment he worked in the medical division. Upon leaving the Army he moved back to Corpus Christi TX, then on to Houston, where he worked at Allied Tube and coached Softball. This is where he met his wife, Katy McCorkle. They married on February 12, 1983, and when they could retire, got out of the big city, and moved to La Grange in 2015.

Gregory was a President of the Friends of Monument Hill and board member of the Texas Heroes Museum.  He was a docent at both, telling the history of Texas and of military actions around the globe. Gregory loved his life; his wife and family, and he loved his cats. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
