Visitation will be on Sunday, June 7, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home.

Gladys Anita (Bohot) Giese went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, June 3, 2020. She was born on May 24, 1935, at Warda, Texas to parents Robert and Minna Bohot.  She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda. She was united in marriage to Leslie A. Giese on November 6, 1954, at Holy Cross in Warda.

Gladys was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and served in the Ladies Aid.   After retiring as a nurse, she represented Mary Kay Cosmetics as a beauty consultant for 19 years, earning many awards for her sales performance. As a teen, she wrote a weekly column, the ‘Warda News’, for local newspapers and continued to do so from the mid-1970s until shortly before her passing. She enjoyed singing and playing her guitar, accompanying her husband and friends on fishing trips to the Gulf, avidly supporting Warda’s baseball team, traveling to Germany and Ireland, acting in local plays and appearing in movies and TV shows filmed locally, playing dominoes, making her yard beautiful, feeding and watching birds, deer hunting, bowling, watching NASCAR, and driving her Camaro. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great source of pleasure to her and she looked forward to the arrival of a great-great-grandchild in November.  Most of all, she loved sharing her wonderful sense of humor with family and friends.

Left behind to cherish her memory are daughters Roxanne Davis and husband Steve of Lawton, Oklahoma and Robin Wedgeworth and husband Curtis of Warda; four grandchildren: Jonathan Gooch and wife Carrie of Murphy, Texas; Lesley Svrcek and Miguel Soto of Warda; Alison and husband Tim Parnell of Hurst, Texas; and Miranda Blackmon of Guam; seven great-grandchildren: Lexi and husband Peter Fomin, Riley Soto, Brisa Soto, Laurie Gooch, Nicholas Gooch, Carmyn Parnell, and Declan Parnell; brother and sister-in-law Alfred and Ruby Bohot of Warda; sister Helen Kaiser of LaGrange; sister and brother-in-law Wilma and J.C. Kaiser of Warda; brother-in-law Robert Lehmann of Warda; two aunts; two uncles; many nieces and nephews; innumerable friends; and special friend, John Hoffman of Giddings.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Leslie Giese, her parents, sister-in-law Della Lehmann, brother-in-law Edward Kaiser, infant sister Ruby Bohot, and infant brother Walter Bohot.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson, LaGrange, TX 78945 or Holy Cross Lutheran Church General Fund, PO Box 69, Warda TX 78960.
