ElGene Weyand

ElGene Weyand (79) passed away in Austin, April 3, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 8, 2022 at 10:00AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville with interment following at Florida Chapel Cemetery in Round Top.  A visitation is scheduled for April 7, 2022 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange, with family present from 4-6PM.

ElGene was born on October 19, 1942 to Ollie and Nelda (Keilers) Weyand at their home in Haw Creek. On July 11, 1970 he married Darlene Treude Weyand and they had two sons, Eric and Deric.  ElGene enjoyed his daily routine of farming and ranching.  He also enjoyed hunting and the family knew not to interrupt his favorite show, Wheel of Fortune.  He was a member of Herman Sons Lodge in Rutersville and the Wildlife Cooperative. ElGene will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

ElGene is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons, Eric (Kristi) Weyand and Deric Weyand (Katy); sisters, Waldine Garlin and Darlene (Berrie) Etzel; grandchildren, Madison Weyand, Karly and Carter Weyand.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Nelda Weyand and brother-in-law, Delbert Garlin.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church (5743 State Hwy 159, La Grange, Texas 78945), the Round Top / Warrenton Fire Department (PO Box 145, Round Top, Texas 78954) or to Bernardo Fire Department (2845 FM 949, Cat Spring, Texas 78933).
