Woodra Jo Parker was born in Dallas, Texas, to Dovie and Jesse Parker, who gave her the nickname "Bubbles" as a baby that most people knew her by throughout her life. She spent her early years in Mesquite before the family moved to Scroggins, the tiny suburb of Winnsboro, TX in 1967. Through her childhood and school years, Bubbles rode horses and travelled across Texas and Oklahoma to many a rodeo. Bubbles graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1979 and went on to study cosmetology and become a talented hairdresser.
Bubbles made many friends throughout the years who she kept in touch with from her time living in different parts of Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri. In recent years, she always talked about wanting to live near the coast. So, in 2023, she moved to Corpus Christi and spent lots of time at the beach with her dog, Butch.
Bubbles is survived by sister, Susie Grider of Flatonia, TX, niece Sarah Kate Haseloff and husband Dwayne of Flatonia, and nephew Jesse Jenkins and wife Ashley Thomas of Corpus Christi.
Bubbles loved music, her people, and the cowgirl way of life. These words, from a song she loved, ring true to who she was:
There's just something
That a cowgirl has
Ain't no cowboy's got
Man she's something when
She's one of the boys
But something else
Anytime she's not
Sometimes the best cowboys
Aren't cowboys at all
She's got my back
Even when it's against the wall
When I need a friend
She's the guy I call
Because sometimes
The best cowboys aren't cowboys at all
