William M. (Bill) Edwards passed away on April 25, 2010, at his home in Houston, Texas.
Bill was born on August 28, 1932, in San Diego California to William T. and Goldie May Self Edwards. He graduated with honors from UCLA with a degree in chemistry and obtained a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Houston. He spent the majority of his career working for Shell Oil Company, with his last years spent in research and development.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sarah Thomas Edwards; two sons, David Edwards and wife Anne of LaPorte, Texas and Thomas J. Edwards of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter, Karen Schexnayder and husband Kurt of Groves, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill had a great love for the sport of bicycling and devoted his retirement years enjoying riding, racing, coaching, mentoring and furthering the science of cycling performance.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday May 22, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Fayetteville Brethren Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Bill Edwards Memorial Fund, in care of Fayetteville Brethren Church, P. O. Box 11, Fayetteville, Texas 78940.
