Violet Bernice Markwardt, age 95, of Round Top, passed away on January 15th, 2014, at Monument Hill Nursing Center. She was a lifelong resident of the Round Top area. She was born on January 6th, 1919 to Otto Wendland and Hester (Keng) Wendland. She married Aubrey Ralph Markwardt on November 25th, 1951 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top.
Violet Markwardt enjoyed homemaking, being known as a perfectionist at cooking, sewing, and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking and cooking, as well as farming alongside of her husband and helping him with custodian duties at RTC High School.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Dallmeyer and her husband, Marvin of Round Top; a son, Steven Markwardt and his wife, Lucy of Frelsburg; along with 4 grandchildren, Russell Dallmeyer and his wife Hope; Lance Dallmeyer and his wife Debra; Patrick Markwardt and his wife Mindy; Stacy Hudson and her husband Derick; 5 great-grandchildren, Bailey Dallmeyer, Ty Dallmeyer, Brayden Dallmeyer, Madison Markwardt and Sophie Hudson; as well as brother-in-law, Gilbert Hartmann and sister-in-law, Anita Markwardt.
Violet Markwardt was predeceased by her husband, her parents, 2 sisters, Ruby Greif-Hunger and Evelyn Lange; 3 brothers-in-law; Gilmer, Oral, and Colbert Markwardt; sister-in-law, Eurleen Hartmann, and brothers-in-law, August Hunger and Alfred Lange.
Services are scheduled as follows: visitation at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, January 17th, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family receiving visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and funeral services at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top on Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Richter Cemetery at Round Top.
Pallbearers for the service will be Russell Dallmeyer, Lance Dallmeyer, Patrick Markwardt, Ty Dallmeyer, Sharon Moehlmann, Derick Hudson, and Todd Markward. All grandchildren and their spouses and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice.
