Vestle V. "Smitty" Smith, age 92 of La Grange, passed away on April 13, 2011.
Vestle was born on October 10, 1918, in McCaulley, Texas to John C. Smith and Emma Hartling Smith.
Smitty was retired from the maintenance department of the Galena Park School District. He enjoyed dancing and puzzles.
He is survived by a son, Jerry Dean Smith, of Houston; a sister, Pearline Knull of California; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-daughters and their families; numerous other nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday April 15, 2011, from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday April 16, 2011, at 2:00 PM, at the Pittman Cemetery, in Muldoon.
Smitty was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mildred Bartley and eight brothers and sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley in La Grange.
