Carmine

Vernell Noak, 87, passed away at Care Inn Nursing Center in La Grange on January 27,
2023 where she resided the last 4 years. She was born in West Point, TX to Elton &
Glinnie Tramp on March 29, 1935. She was baptized in 1935 and confirmed in 1948
at St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairie Valley. On October 25, 1959 she married
Nolan Noak also in Prairie Valley and they made their home in Carmine. She was an
extremely talented seamstress sewing all her own clothes as well as her and her
sister’s wedding dresses and many bridesmaid dresses.

Between raising their two children, Bruce and Lanette, she continued sewing and
altering items for all the neighborhood and kept up with many seasons of canning
items from their garden. She could also turn a loaf of frozen bread dough into a tasty
cinnamon coffee cake that always made the trip with Bruce to the deer lease on
opening weekend. Later, she did babysitting in their home which included her
granddaughters. Vernell and Nolan enjoyed dancing and spent many weekends with
family and friends at area dances or celebrations. They were married almost 56 years
when Nolan passed away in 2015.

Vernell is survived by her son Bruce Noak and wife Paula, daughter Lanette Williams
and husband Bobby all of Carmine. Grandchildren: Robyn Payne and husband
Shannon of Hitchcock, Candice Gorden and husband Brad of Cypress, Emily Noak and
special friend Matt Danesi of Brenham. Great-grandsons, Nolan Payne, Emmitt
