Steve Mueller, 72, of La Grange, died June 8, 2021 at St. Mark’s Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Interment will be in the Rutersville Cemetery in Rutersville. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service at the Rutersville Hermann Sons Life Lodge. Vicar Cole McGlynn will officiate.
Steve was born on October 23, 1948 in La Grange, Texas, the son of Lorenz and Evelyn (Hinze) Mueller. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Steve spoke only German as a young child and cousins helped him learn English when he started school. He attended school in La Grange and graduated in 1967. Steve retired from a carpentry career and loved to garden and keep his pastures and yard manicured. He enjoyed social events with family and friends, spending time around the campfire, cooking, fishing, and playing dominoes and cards. Special times for him included friendly poker games with cousins at local community gatherings. He enjoyed a trip to Germany, visiting friends and family in Canada and trips to the coast.
Steve is survived by his wife, Ann Lowes Mueller of La Grange, one daughter Theresa Garlin and two grandsons, Hayden and Cole Garlin of Ledbetter; also three step-sons, Harold Lowes and wife, Donnie Lowes and wife and Chris Lowes and fiance, one step-daughter, Catherine and husband and eight step-grandchildren. He is also survived by two aunts, Lorena Mueller of Sealy and Marian Frerichs of La Grange, one uncle Raymond Lehmann of Ledbetter. Numerous cousins and friends also survive.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Dwayne Garlin and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Pallbearers, including honorary pallbearers, are Kyle Hartmann, Kayla Hartmann, Weldon Hartmann, Chris Lowes, Hayden Garlin, Cole Garlin, Robert Frerichs, Scott Lucky, Larry Tietjen, Gene Citzler, and Travis Hill.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
