Paul John Srubar, 84 of Plum, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.

Paul was born in Plum, Texas on October 31, 1931, the son of Charles and Mary (Vecera) Srubar. He married Mary Maeckel on February 5, 1966 in Plum, Texas.

Paul was raised in Plum. He served his country in the US Army. In his 30’s he moved to Houston where he raised his family. He worked for Texas Automatic Foods for over 30 years until he retired. In 1999, they moved to Muldoon, Tx.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and KJT Society #23.

He enjoyed farming, singing with the Czech Heritage Society and the church choir, fishing, hunting and spending time with family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching baseball, football and basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 50 years; one son, Paul Srubar, Jr.; one daughter Ann Marie Srubar both of Houston; three sisters-in-law: Angeline Srubar and Mary Ann Srubar, both of West Point and Rose Miller and husband Michael of Fresno, Tx; two grandchildren, Ashley and Cody Srubar of Del Rio, Tx, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by parents, three brothers: Frank, August and Emil Srubar; four sisters: Mary Prihoda, Martha Harper, Edith Prihoda and Sister Marcella Srubar; father-in-law: Jesse Maeckel and mother-in-law: Mary Maeckel and one brother in law Frank Maeckel.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1st, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 126 Plum Church Rd.,, Plum, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016. Burial will follow at the LaGrange City Cemetary. Following the graveside service a reception will be held at the Plum Dining Hall at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Plum, Tx.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 936 FM 2436, LaGrange, TX 78945; Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 516 S Faires St, Flatonia, TX 78941 or a charity of one’s choice.
