After fighting a courageous battle against cancer Parker A Lueders, loving father and devoted husband, passed at his home on July 10, 2008 with his family and close friend by his side. Parker was born on June 24, 1933 in Muldoon Texas to Ovie Parker and Benno Lueders. After graduating Flatonia High School in 1951 he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1956 Parker joined the Houston Police department serving 9 years and also was a member of the first K-9 unit. After leaving H.P.D. Parker became an officer for the University of Texas police department at M.D. Anderson Houston, eventually promoting to Assistant Chief. In 1976 Parker began his duty as Captain at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Centers in Bastrop Texas and Buscher State Park where he worked until his retirement in 1996 with 25 years of distinguished service. During his lifetime, he was a member of the Bastrop Lions Club, president of the homeowners association at Tahitian Village, and president of the Police Officers Association of Bastrop county. Parker is survived by his wife of 56 years Dorothy, daughter Debra Pruett and husband Donald Pruett, son Lyndon, three grandchildren, Michael Baccus, Sarah Bryant, Justin Pruett, two Great Grandchildren Taylor Baccus and Brooke Baccus.
