Miguel Vega Alvarez

A Mass of Christian Burial for Miguel Vega Alvarez is scheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in La Grange with a rosary being led at 2:30 p.m. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.

Miguel Alvarez, 60, of La Grange passed away in Houston, Texas on May 12, 2025. He was born on April 14, 1965 in Mexico City, Mexico to Mario Vega Marquez and Irene Alvarez Vega. He married Josefina Tapia on May 18, 1996 in Mexico City. Miguel and Josefina, along with their two children, moved to La Grange in 2003 to be closer to family.

Miguel worked as an 18-wheeler driver in Mexico hauling appliance parts until moving to Texas and then he began his career in construction. He worked in the construction business for over 20 years. Miguel loved the outdoors and enjoyed the country scenery. He appreciated music and dancing. He especially enjoyed rock music from the 60’s and 70’s. He also enjoyed chocolate, ice cream and watching soccer, baseball which he played in Mexico. He was a genuine and kind man that loved helping others. He was very social and always made time to spend time with family and friends. He was very loved and will be dearly missed.

Miguel is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Josefina; mother, Irene Alvarez Vega; children, Marcos Geraldo Vega and wife, Delores and Katerin Vega both of La Grange; siblings, Manuel Vega (Rocio), Adrian Vega, Maria Jovita Vega, Marta Eloisa Vega and Reyna Vega all of Mexico City; grandchildren, Gabriel Vega, Camila Vega and Alexander Hernandez; special Labrador, Kiara along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Mario Vega Marquez; and brothers, Mario Antonio Vega and Jaime Vega.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart Church in La Grange or to the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter, also in La Grange.
