MaryAnn Schmidt age 73 of Fayetteville passed away on Tuesday, April 05, 2011 at St. Marks Medical Center in La Grange.

MaryAnn was born September 20, 1937 in Fayetteville to William and Ludmilla (Marek) Piwetz. She was the seventh of seven children. MaryAnn married Wayne Schmidt on November 25, 1956 in Fayetteville.

Between raising 4 children she made a lasting impact working in the Fayetteville ISD for 26 years as a teacher’s aide, librarian and year book sponsor. She was an active member of CDA, KJZT and Altar Society. After retiring she filled her days with grandbabies, baking and needlework. She had great love for her pets.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne W. Schmidt; three daughters, Ann Rigden and husband Ralph, Linda Schmidt and Melanie Schmidt; one son, Steven Schmidt; four grandchildren, Rylan Rigden, Steven Schmidt, Jr., Emily Schmidt and Taylor Schmidt; two sisters, Dolores Rowlett and Lillian Krenek; one brother, Florian Piwetz and wife Effie; generations of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, William and Ludmilla Piwetz,; brothers, Steven, Ludwig and Frank Piwetz; brothers-in-law, Bill Rowlett and Daniel Krenek and one grandson, Christopher Schmidt.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday April 7, 2011 from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday April 8, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fayetteville.

Burial to follow at Haw Creek Cemetery near Shelby.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Haw Creek Cemetery or to the charity of one’s choice.
