Kervin Schmidt

d. December 31, 2010

It has pleased God, in accordance with His merciful and divine providence, on the evening of December 31, 2010 to summon to Himself out of this vale of tears, the soul of Kervin Ervin Schmidt.

Kervin was born January 5, 1926, Haw Creek, TX to Louis H. and Alma Stork Schmidt. His parents faithfully obeyed the command of the Lord by bringing Kervin to the waters of Holy Baptism on February the 14, 1926, at the Lutheran Church of Haw Creek, TX by Pastor A. H. Folkenberg. Kervin was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Warrenton, TX on September 3, 1939 by Pastor Julius Bosshard.

Kervin was married January 9, 1947 to Alma Lydia Aschenbeck in Trinity Lutheran Church of Frelsburg, TX. The Lord blessed their union with the gift of three children, Karen, Everett, and Brady.

A long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Shelby, Kervin served his Lord as councilman, choir member, and usher. He was faithful in hearing the Word of God and reception of the Lord’s Supper. By means of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are certain that Kervin now enjoys the peace of eternal life in Heaven.

Kervin was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Verline Viola Schmidt.

Surviving and mourning his loss are his wife, Alma and their children, Karen and Chester Markwardt, Everett and Sandy Schmidt, and Brady Schmidt; grandchildren, Malet and Lance Weatherby, Brian and Cynthia Markwardt, Tiffany and John Richardson, Stacy Schmidt, Kayla Schmidt, Melissa and Bradley Duncan, Blake Schmidt and Drew Schmidt; nine great grandchildren; brother Nelson and wife Loraine Schmidt; sister-in-law Tina Marek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday January 5, 2011 from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday January 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby.

Interment will follow at Haw Creek Cemetery.
