Jonathan Bruce Ellison, known to family and friends as “Bruce” or “Rhino”, 63, of La Grange, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026. Bruce was never the type of person to shy away from speaking his mind, and anyone who knew him knew that when Bruce had something to say, you were going to hear it. He was a very passionate speaker and natural storyteller; he really had a way of making his presence known (especially at any La Grange football game). Rhino was also a very passionate cook, anyone who knows he would count his beans to 239 because any more would be “too-farty”. But in all seriousness, anyone lucky enough to have them knows they were legendary. He always loved cooking because a good meal for Bruce was more about bringing family together.

Bruce was born in Farmington, New Mexico on June 29, 1963, the son of Henry Dean Ellison and Mamilyn (McManus) Ellison. He graduated from La Grange High School in La Grange, Texas and attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas.

He married Sandra Ann Klobedans on May 30, 1992 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange, Texas. They were married for 29 years before her passing.

Bruce dedicated nearly 30 years of his career to LCRA. Beginning his career as a welder at Railcar Station in Smithville, later transitioned into the role of safety trainer at Fayette Power Plant. He also spent numerous years being a Fire Chief at the Winchester Volunteer Fire department and later joining the La Grange Volunteer Fire department as a first responder. If that wasn’t enough, he also spent numerous years working for the EMS in La Grange.

Bruce is survived by his two sons: Walker Zane Ellison and fiancée Emily Cummins and Cordale Luke Ellison; Brothers Russell Ellison, wife Mary Ellison, and Bradly Ellison, wife Claudia Ellison; Mother-in-Law Margie Klobedans; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Ann Ellison; Father Henry Dean Ellison, Mother Mamilyn Ellison; Father-in-Law Edward James Klobedans.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 539 E. Pearl St., La Grange, TX at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Burial will be held at a later time in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 3900 B F Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, TX.
