Jackie Charles Meece Sr., passed away at his residence in Bastrop on Thursday, April 15, 2010.
Born on September 23, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky to David and Cordelia (Turnbill) Meece, Jackie worked in construction for many years. Jackie was an avid collector of Nascar memorabilia and enjoyed taking part in barbecue cook-offs, and a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
Jackie Meece is survived by his wife, Lola Ortiz Meece and children, Jackie Meece Jr.and his wife, Angel of Louisville, Kentucky; Dena Combs and her husband Scott of Kentucky; Diana Smith of Kentucky; Jason Lee Ortiz and wife Melissa; and John Michael Ortiz of the Bastrop area, He is also survived by 4 granddaughters, and 4 grandsons, and by his sisters, Lorraine Haley of Jacksonville, Texas; Charlene (Sherri) Tullos of Bastrop,and Doris Jean Campbell of Fulton; and two brothers, David Meece Jr. and his wife Betty of Bryan; and Robert Meece and his wife Melody of Jacksonville, Texas. Numerous nephews, and nieces and other family and friends survive.
Jackie Meece was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Ernest (Punch) Meece.
Services are scheduled for Sunday April 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.Memorial donations may be made to Asera Care Hospice of Bastrop.
