Henry T. Muras of La Grange went to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the age of 79 years.
Henry was born on July 1, 1932 in O’Quinn, Texas to Cyril and Martha (Svec) Muras. Henry married Joyce Ruether on September 30, 1962 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fayetteville. With this union they were blessed with two daughters, Eileen Behrens and Darlene Muras.
Henry was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn, a member of the KJT for over 50 years and an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Independent Cattlemen’s Association. Henry retired from Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative in 1997 after 34 1/2 years of service.
Henry enjoyed ranching, restoring Farmall tractors, and just picking up the phone to call family and acquaintances, at anytime. He enjoyed watching his grandson’s sporting events, attending cattle auctions and watching RFDTV, along with the Big Joe & Molly B polka shows. For a past-time, he enjoyed playing dominoes, cards and dice games. Henry was a volunteer at the Second Chance Emporium. At his church, Henry was an usher, a greeter, and regularly worked the church picnics and Hostyn scholarship breakfasts with his crew.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Muras of La Grange; two daughters, Eileen Behrens and husband Richard of La Grange, and Darlene Muras of College Station and fiancé Jonathan Dusek of Wallis; two grandsons, Sterling and Avery Behrens, three brothers; Bernard Muras, Cyril Muras Jr. & Leo Muras, two sisters; Alice Faldyn and Marcella Wagner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cyril M. Muras Sr. & Martha Svec Muras; mother-in-law & father-in-law; Charlie & Mary Ruether, and sister; Dorothy Gorka.
Visitation is scheduled from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, Tuesday May 29, 2012 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Family will receive visitors at 5:00 PM at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn until 6:30 PM. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday May 30, 2012 at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn.
Interment will follow at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Columbarium Fund, Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn, or to the charity of one’s choice.
