George Chris Payton, age 64, of Round Top, passed away on June 29, 2011 in Austin.
George was born on October 25, 1946, in Houston to Oscar L. Payton and Gladys Mercer Payton. He married Fannie Kay Maxwell on July 21, 1979, at Conroe.
He worked at Belmore as a welder for 27 years and then worked at Round Top Carmine ISD for 20 years as a custodian.
George had a love for deer hunting and his pets, but his one special love was his grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife, Fannie Kay; daughter, Kristina Kristoff and husband Jacob ; son, Patrick Payton; grandchildren, Jackson Kristoff, Brandon Kristoff and Preston Kristoff. He is also survived by special friends; Richard and Katherine Periero, Carolyn Garza and her husband Dan and Herman and Carolyn Shimpock.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday July1, 2011, from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday July 2, 2011, at 10:00 AM at Second Baptist Church in La Grange.
Interment will follow at Florida Chapel Cemetery near Round top.
