A mass of Christian Burial for Edwin Bartek will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange with interment to follow at the La Grange City Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 4-6:00 PM at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.
Edwin Bartek passed away at St. Mark’s Hospital on December 20, 2022 at the age of 93. He was born in Holman, Texas on October 18, 1929 to Alvin and Frances (Jalufka) Bartek.
Edwin started early in life working in farming and other jobs common of the era such as a gas station attendant, and mill worker. He later took a more advanced job at Adamcik’s Appliance as an antenna installer until the division of the company and worked at Reeder’s Air Conditioning and Heating as an electrician until retirement at the age of 62. He was self-taught on many talents. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and making bird houses. Edwin and his wife enjoyed selling their homemade crafts on the square on Saturday mornings during their retirement while they had the ability. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Edwin is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Frances Bartek; and brothers, Dennis and Johnnie Bartek; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Bartek; son-in-law, Scott Ford; grandson, Daniel Malina and great grandson, Brendan Spoelstra.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Earline (Kirsch) Bartek; sons, Edwin J. Bartek, Dennis Bartek (Donna); daughters, Cynthia Ford and Laurie Schneider; eleven grandchildren, Tami Cooper (James), Kandice Spoelstra (Martin), Jessica Pantalion, Michelle Noak, Johnathon Noak, Lindsey Schneider, Amber Schneider, Heather Grant (Donald), Desiree Singer (Chris), Kyle Ford (Tiffany), and Brian Ford (Kayla); twenty-three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, Sacred Heart Catholic Church or a charity of one’s choice
