Dora Ann Coleman, 94 of La Grange formerly of Waco, passed away on June 11, 2025, in La Grange, Texas. She was born in Waco on October 19, 1930 to Ray McCormick and Mary Katherine (Back) McCormick. She married Rod Coleman on January 28, 1951 and they were married for over 50 years until his passing in 2001.
“Ann” and Rod were passionate Christians and served as Baptist missionaries in Arizona for 15 years where they opened churches for the Navajo and Papago Indians. Throughout the years, Ann worked secretarial jobs depending on her location. She loved her children and grandchildren and would often move to be closer to them. Once she settled in La Grange, she became a member of the Second Baptist Church where she was a part of the Women’s Missionary Union. Ann was also an avid reader and would often pencil her initials in public library books to ensure she didn’t read them twice. Most of all, Ann loved her sixteen grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by those that were blessed to know her.
Dora is survived by her children; Debbie Davis and husband Larry of La Grange, Rod Coleman II of La Grange, Connie Coleman, and Scott Coleman and wife Bunnie Sue of Henderson; sisters, Tommie Jones and Martha Culverhouse; brother-in-law, Lester Adams; sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by husband, Rod Coleman; parents, Ray and Mary Katherine McCormick; brothers, Billy McCormick and Louis McCormick and identical twin sister, Nan Adams.
A private burial will take place at Waco Memorial Cemetery in Waco.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church Fund (5000 SH-71 West, La Grange, Texas 78945).
