Danette “Dannie” Kay Coufal, age 63, passed away on October 7, 2025, in La Grange, Texas. She was born in Edinburg, Texas on January 12, 1962, to Gary Horne and Diana Chambers-Gensemer. She graduated from Fayetteville High School and later married Richard “Ricky” Coufal on April 4, 1981.

Dannie enjoyed flowers, gardening and puzzles. She was an animal lover and especially adored her two cats, Callie and Marshmallow. She was an excellent cook and learned all of her cooking skills from her mother-in-law, Eleanora Coufal. Dannie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Dannie is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ricky Coufal; children, Steven Coufal and Justin Coufal; brother, Michael Chambers (Barbara); mother-in-law, Eleanora Coufal; sisters-in-law, Shelley Gonzalez (John) and Sandy Nunez (David), and granddaughter, Chloe Coufal along with numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews; a longtime friend, Marie Seidel.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gary Horne and Diana Chambers-Gensemer; brother, Jeff Chambers; father-in-law, Lee Coufal; and brother-in-law, Bernard Coufal.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter in La Grange.
