Clarence Trindall Brothers left this earth for his heavenly home on May 9, 2010 at the age of 91.
Clarence was born on September 16, 1918 to Arthur Brothers and Ethel Trindall Brothers, in Rouses Point, New York. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, he worked on the Delaware Hudson Railroad as a trainman.
He joined the US Army and was stationed at Camp Swift, Bastrop, Texas, where he met and married Lillian Reiss, his wife of sixty three years. He served his country on the Pacific Front in World War II.
Upon returning from the war, he moved to New York and continued his work as a trainman until 1947. Later he moved his family to Danbury and Angleton, Texas and worked for Dow Chemical, Freeport for twenty six years, as a carpenter and maintenance foreman.
After retiring in 1977, he settled in West Point, where he and Lillian enjoyed their cattle and ranching.
He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by two sons; Ken Brothers and wife Terry of West Point and Steven Brothers and wife Bonnie of Angleton; a daughter, Paula Thompson and husband John of Danbury. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Alan Brothers and wife Darlene of West Point, Christopher Brothers and wife Sara of Arlington, VA., Matthew Brothers of Germany, Mandy Farrer and husband Romie of Angleton, Brent Brothers and wife Rachel of Angleton, Bradley Brothers of Angleton, Jeffery Thompson of Danbury, Kimberly Bowman of Little River, and Clifford Cawthon and wife Wendy of Amarillo. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Marie Ivy and a brother-in-law Henry Reiss and wife Eleanora.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, his parents, a daughter, Linda Cawthon, two brothers David and Kenneth and a sister Barbara Emery.
The grandchildren will dearly miss his wonderful stories about "the good ole days".
Visitation is scheduled for Friday May 14, 2010, from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday May 15, 2010, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Thompson, Alan Brothers, Chris Brothers, Matt Brothers, Brent Brothers, Bradley Brothers, Clifford Cawthon, Romie Farrer and Aaron Cawthon, Honorary.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum, or to the American Cancer Society.
