Carol Ann von Minden

La Grange, Texas

Carol Ann Wunderlich von Minden, 82, of La Grange, passed away peacefully at
her home after a short-term courageous battle with cancer in the early morning
hours of New Year’s Day Monday, January 1, 2024. She was born in Winedale, Texas
on December 11, 1941, to Elton and Lucile (Jaster) Wunderlich. She was a devoted
wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a dear and loyal friend to
many in the community.


She graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School at the top of her class as
salutatorian in 1960. She married Weldon von Minden on November 6, 1960, and
they began their 63 years of a happy married life in La Grange.


Carol spent her free time gardening, canning, cooking, sewing, quilting and
traveling in their RV with husband Weldon to the Hill Country especially during
peach season. She also was an avid Aggie and Longhorn fan while following her
family’s educational accomplishments and careers.


She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Weldon von Minden, her two
daughters, Cynthia and Ken Stohr, and Pamela and Larry Wyant; one son, Bradley
and Misti von Minden; cherished grandchildren Clint Taylor IV, Lee Ann and
Michael Herman, Amy Wyant, Jordyn and Taylor Mann, Landon von Minden, and
equally cherished great-grandchildren Peyton Herman and Walker Herman. She
also leaves behind sisters Mary and Erland Schulze, Debbie and DuWayne Pfeffer,
brother Jimmy and Ruth Wunderlich, brother-in-law Al Fridel, and numerous
nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her loving parents Elton and Lucile Wunderlich, and
sister Janice Fridel.


Carol was a stay-at-home mother for many joyful years and also worked for the
Fayette County Record newspaper in La Grange for many years. She also was a
partner in her husband’s architectural and electrical firm for several years.

Pallbearers will be nephews Dustin Pfeffer, Darren Pfeffer, Doug Pfeffer, Kevin
Schulze, Patrick Wunderlich and Chris Wunderlich. Honorary pallbearers will be
grandsons Clint Taylor IV and Michael Herman, and nephew Jeffrey Schulze.

 
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fayette Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held there at 967 East Colorado St. in La Grange on Tuesday,
January 9 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10
at 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 800 N. Franklin St., La Grange.


Following, graveside services will be held at Florida Chapel Cemetery, 265 Florida
Chapel Road, Round Top, Texas 78954 at 11:30 a.m.
