Beatrice Leal Tamez, 95, was called to the Lord, surrounded by the love and faithfulness of her family on February 2nd, 2026. Bea was born on February 11th, 1930 in Las Violetas, a ranch in the Rio Grande Valley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Crispin "Speedy" Tamez, and her parents Julian Leal and Emilia Turner. She was also preceded in death by her Leal family siblings, Julian Leal, Guadalupe Turner, Consuelo Almanza, Maria Gonzalez, Aurora Leal, Alicia Rocha, Alfredo Leal, Enrique Leal, and Luis Leal. Bea is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandsons: David (Julie) Tamez (Blane and Ryan Tamez) of Austin ,Texas; Daniel (Joyce) Tamez ( grandson Dawson & great grandsons, Dean and Dayton and grandson, Damon Tamez) of Hutto, Texas; Diana Tamez of College Station (Desirae Day of El Lago, Texas) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bea graduated from LaFeria High School in 1949. Bea and Speedy migrated to Illinois in the 1950's to pursue opportunities in the steel industry. Bea was the consummate homemaker and a nurturing and loving wife and mother. She and Speedy were also devoted Catholics and used their faith to guide them throughout the years. After 30 years and much prosperity they eventually made it back to Texas. ( LaGrange in 1979 ). Bea was a loving, caring and friendly person who was always willing to help others and had a fierce loyalty to all her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and cherished by all that knew and loved her.
We would like to send our deepest gratitude to the Drs., Nurses and Staff of Brookdale in Lakeway, Texas for the care and kindness she received from them.
The family would also like to add that Bea was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Annunciation #1962. The Tamez family will be receiving family and friends for the viewing on Monday February 9th at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home, 967 E. Colorado, LaGrange, Texas from 4-6 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 10th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 am. Burial services will be held at the LaGrange City Cemetery following the church services.
