Anton A. Lorenz, of La Grange, passed away on June 14, 2012, in Houston, at the age of 88.
Anton was born August 8, 1923, to Carl and Theresia Vogel Lorenz, at Greens Creek, Texas.
He served his country in the US Army from 1944 to 1946. On February 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mildred Lehmann of Warda. They made their home in Houston, where they worked and raised their family. Anton was employed as a machinist at Texas Rubber & Specialty.
In 1990, they retired to a farm in Warda. Anton loved the land and took great pride in having his farm look pristine. He found great pleasure tending his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens and raising cattle. He also enjoyed fishing. His greatest loves were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mildred Lorenz; daughter, Margie Murray; son, Wesley Lorenz and wife Sherri; two grandchildren, Kimberly Stockton & husband Michael and Christopher Lorenz; three great-grandchildren, Kate, Reese and Bailey Stockton. Anton is also survived by two sisters; Burnies Richter & husband Lawrence and Leona Krakosky & husband Milton; sisters-in-law; Ruby Bohot & husband Alfred, Martha Lorenz, Adelia Lorenz and Lucille Lorenz.
Anton was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Gary & Glenn Lorenz, as infants; sister, Alma Menzel; brothers, Erwin, Rudolf and Ewald Lorenz.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday June 18, 2012, from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday June 19, 2012, at 10:30 AM, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Hour ministries or the charity of one's choice.
